Weird Architecture

There’s a number of reasons that make skyscrapers stand out, not just the obvious height they have. In China there seems to be a challenge to create buildings that seem to stand out and the Water Fall Tower seems to be the newest addition to this lot. A building in the city of Guiyang, in the southwest of China as a 108 meter cascading water fall coming down it’s face.

The rather ostentatious design of the Leibian International Building, is still not completed, but the water fall feature works just fine. It’s been using water collected in runoff, rain water as well as ground water to store in giant underground tanks to create the waterfall. The water is pumped up to the top at a high cost of $120 per hour to make the waterfall function.

Locals say that it’s a waste of money. The feature has been showcased just six times in the last two years since it was completed. The Ludi Industry Group that is building the structure hopes to have a shopping mall, luxury hotel and offices inside. Now this is one science experiment that may just not prove to be financially viable when the members of the building association have to pay for their extravagant bills.
